MANILA - Four areas were placed under storm signal No. 1 as typhoon Santi (international name Mirinae) intensified as it continued its movement towards Central Luzon on Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported.
PAGASA said the storm was located 1,080 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora, packing center winds of 150 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 185 kph.
The storm was moving west toward Central Luzon at a speed of 26 kph, the bureau said.

"Santi" entered the Philippine territory on Wednesday night as a typhoon. It was expected to strengthen further as it moves closer to Luzon.
The National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) has placed all units in the central and northern parts of Luzon ahead of the typhoon's expected landfall on Saturday night..
Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., concurrent NDCC chairman, has advised the public to go to cemeteries a day before or after the storm passes for the annual observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days.
